ABOUT THIS WEBSITE
When the firm outer exterior of the pomegranate is cracked open, it reveals an abundance of ruby-red seeds. Seeds in most fruits are not typically edible and thus immediately discarded. The pomegranate fruit, however, hold seeds bursting with rich juices that contain the perfect balance of sweet and tart flavors as well as an explosion of healthy antioxidants.
The pomegranate fruit is also rich for symbolic interpretation. In this webpage, we will look at a piece of artwork and try to analyze the pomegranate within the context of the painting. More importantly, we will be making various connections through the lens of an art historian as well as a psychologist. Connections will be made between the symbolism of the pomegranate and various unique topics that were covered during the course of the Food for Thought colloquium. Lastly, two very distinct recipes will be featured with an explanation as to why these were chosen as well as the ingredients and directions to prepare the meal.
The purpose of this website is to help pomegranate-consumers, enthusiasts, and scholars delve into the many unique treasures held within the shell of this mysterious fruit. Enjoy!
